History

Clancy & Theys Construction Company is now in its 61st year of providing construction services.  Clancy & Theys was founded in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1949 by brothers-in-law E.I. Clancy and John Theys. The company started out building homes during the post-war housing boom, but quickly switched to commercial construction in the 1950s. The company made its reputation by taking on demanding projects, often renovations, and by holding to traditional values of fairness, superior workmanship, and competitive pricing.

Public projects many for schools, colleges and universities were mainstays of the company's work. Private sector opportunities in North Carolina's Research Triangle area led to specialties in the construction of offices and R&D facilities. During the last 10 years, the company has maintained a mix of public and private contracts, broadened its renovation expertise, and developed specialized skills in team-based delivery systems.

Ownership

Today the company is owned by the late Mr. E.I. Clancy's family, and is managed by his sons. Tim Clancy is president, and his brother Tick is executive vice president. They have presided over the company's steady growth and geographic expansion since 1986.
